A Review of my book A Treatise on Poetry for Beginners by Rukhaya MK

Dr Ampat Koshy is a poet and critic par excellence. His ‘wrighteings’ are honest statements and deconstruct conventional dogmatic constructs laid down by previous critics. He fights this anxiety of influence in his work, as any of his FB poems would. According to Dr Koshy, a poem is an illegitimate orphan on FB, and competes with its contemporary opponents, but does not have a heavy inheritance to be compared to. On the other hand, it fights against its own virtual reality. He employs transliterations for a personal touch, and yet in the wisdom the book imparts, it is universal in its appeal. The informal tone enables the reader to build a comfort level and connect with his style. For the ones who would like to master the basic nuances of poetry, this book is definitely for you. And for the ones who think they already know, you will discover after reading the book: There were many things you always knew, but never realized.
