A review of my book A Treatise on Poetry For Beginners by Gorakhnath Gangane.

The second official, genuine and serious review of my book by Gorakhnath Gangane. Dr Koshy’s ‘Treatise on poetry’ is like a fuller version of Mathew Arnold’s touchstone method, at least for a reader like me who takes keen interest in the aesthetics and the overall body of poetry. I am very much pleased and influenced by the expanse of his expertise in the matters of reading, writing and analyzing poetry. I, being a literature student and a budding poet, find this book of paramount significance for those who want to know, write and appreciate good poetry. What is special about this book is its simple language mixed with intermittent humour, which teaches us various elements of a poem viz. form, style, structure and rhetoric. In times when poetry has few readers and poets are given second place, a book like this will definitely help to generate a good amount of interest in readers and writers as well. It won’t be an exaggeration if I call this book the “ Ars Poetica “ of our times. I give it 4 stars and appeal to the lovers of poetry to grab it if you can because this is a literary treasure. I want to thank Dr Ampat Koshy for offering us this book. Gorakhnath Gangane is a writer, poet and English Language Instructor, Jazan University, Saudi Arabia.
